H&R Block did my taxes for 2010. In November, I received a letter from the IRS saying that I needed to do an amended form immediately.

I called the H&R Block office that did my taxes only to find out it wasn't a year round office. I was told that the only office in the area that was open was 45 minutes away. I made an appointment and when I arrived at the office it was closed. I called the 1-800 number for H&R Block to complain.

Someone called me the next day and I explained that I thought the tax preparer had miscalculated on my taxes. Was told that the computer did the calculations. She asked for the tax preparer's name and office and told me she would call back in a few minutes. She didn't bother to call back so I called the 1-800 number again for H&R Block.

I believe it was the next day that someone from the Escalations Dept. called me. So I went through the whole story with her. She wasn't the friendliest person...wanted to know "what was my problem?".

The lady from Escalation Dept. said that she would turn my case over to the correct department and I should hear from someone in 3-5 business days. This is the afternoon of the fifth business day and I haven't heard from anyone. So, my taxes are still screwed up and I guess I'm going to have to call H&R Block back again.

I've been jerked around now for two weeks and I'm definitely a pissed consumer.

Here in South Alabama you cannot even catch up with the H & R Block personnel. This problem started with major typos by the tax person which set off red flags by the state. Then many other errors were discovered.

The H & R Block office here in South Alabama is really bad. They have screwed up my taxes the last two years and have no concern about fixing the problem. Due to their mistakes we owe both the state and Federal a substantial amount of money.

In February we made an appointment with Hand R Block on Pratt Street in Longmont Co. I told Liz I paid for my own health care insurance.

She was adamant that I didn't.. I went home, got the proof, and called her right back. She had said she would wait until she heard from me to send in the return.. She didn't.

So then we had to file an amendment to both federal and state. We had to go back to Longmont to file the amendment. Four weeks later we get our federal return sent back stating she didn't send all the information. We drove back to Longmont..So far, we have yet to receive our state refund, or our amended federal.

We didn't send in the amended state because she told us to wait until we got our state refund..

What a mess!! I will never use H and R Block again..I knew more about the laws than she did.

April 10 2013,

So I called in on Monday and spoke with the receptionist who told me that I would be getting a

Phone call back from the manager about this issue.

Well it is now Wednesday April 10 2013 and still no phone call back from the manager about this

Ongoing issue! I just called the office at 12:00 PM and I got a voice mail system and I left a voice

mail there as well.

I came in to your H&R Block on March 21 2013 and I had my taxes done at your office my taxes were

Done by Cathy Gornick.

H&R Block

Phone #: 780-448-****

Email: Edmonton.Central@***.ca

So I had my taxes done there and they didnโ€™t put my apartment number on the return. I was starting to wonder

Why I wasnโ€™t getting my return back when I was told that it would only take about 10 โ€“ 14 business days and Cathy

told me that that it would be the first week of April. When I didnโ€™t get the return back I checked out the paperwork

and noticed that Cathy didnโ€™t put my apartment number on the paperwork. So of course now I am not going to get

my return back. I told her my apartment number and it is also on all of my paperwork as well which I gave her

for my return.

So now my return is in limbo because of this screw up by this individual! I still donโ€™t have my return back and probably

Wonโ€™t because there is no apartment number on the paperwork so the return will probably get sent back to Revenue Canada.

I mean this screw up is unacceptable! I mean come on I told her all the information and it is all on the paperwork.

You charge me $107.08 and you canโ€™t even get my address right so I can get my return! I want to know what H&R block

Is going to do for me because of this screw up! This is unacceptable, you charge me a lot of money and canโ€™t even get the

Address right, so why should I continue to trust H&R Block after this screw up!

Right now I have no idea where my return is! I am sure it is in the process of being returned to Revenue Canada because

the apartment is missing.

I should have already gotten my return back by now! This is YOUR screw up and I expect it to be fixed and H&R Block better

do something for me if they want to keep me as a customer otherwise I will be finding another company to do my taxes next year!

And when I call in on Monday and it is already Wednesday and the manager of the store still has not called me back is not

Good either! This just shows how little the manager really cares that she canโ€™t take the time to call me back and speak to

Me about this problem!

H&R head office has a ticket open about this already as well Case #: RES2624****

I do want to speak with the Regional Manager at this point since obviously the manager of this location doesnโ€™t care enough to actually call me back!

I had a similar problem with thier customer service dept and they just don't care.

However, if you start complaining on the H&R Face Book page it will get noticed and they will call you and try to resolve.

If you have any other people that are in the same situation with H&R block have them use Face Book, it does get attention.

To Whom it may concern:

I have been a client with H& R block for 10 yrs. My most recent tax preparation was the worst experience I have had. I hate to use such powerless and awful words but it is the only way I can express how I feel about my experience.

First off I had an appointment on Monday April 2nd at 7:00 p.m. with Barbara Ullery. I arrived at 6:30 only to be told at 7:30 that if she were to see me it would be after 8:00 p.m. I do understand the business and how busy things can get during the season. I was told to leave my paperwork with her and could come pick it up on a following day. I rescheduled an appointment for 4.14.12 11:00. I met with Barbara at 10:45 and began final preparations for my taxes. She had told me to bring some information regarding my stock sales to her. This took a little over an hour to prepare. While we were figuring out the long term and short term sales of my stocks, I WAS the one doing all the math, I WAS the one telling the tax preparer what numbers to use and where to put them, I WAS the one who had to help speed the process up. Not only that, I felt I was being rushed because she had an appointment waiting on her. She encouraged I receive a check in the mail rather than use my debit card because it would take longer. I kept getting several hints that she wanted me out of there quick so she could move on with her day.

I am writing this to inform you of my uncomfortable experience on this most recent preparation. Not only that, I was never told how much it would cost me. I paid $170 last year and $253 dollars this year. I am a valued customer of H& R Block and want to continue to use you guys but with this service, price increase without warning and me basically having to do the math I feel underappreciated. I realize I am a small time customer but a repeat customer. I feel the $253 I paid for my return was just not worth it considering I was involved in half the process of calculating numbers and telling the agent where to put the numbers. The agent basically showed me I could do the taxes myself.

I do not want to talk bad about Barbara, she is a sweet kind lady. I just feel a little ripped off and want to state my case.

Thanks,

Tim Ketavongsa

I was a Tax Instructor and Office Manager for HRB. I love doing preparing taxes and I love teaching the correct way of doing taxes, not everyone can do what I do because you do have to love what you do.

I know the system inside out all of them, I know how to run an office and my clients love me, I choose the best tax preparers to work in my office and continue to teach them, My employees and myself are not data entry, we know about taxes and we know how to fix any issue that come up, we tell the truth and if it is our fault we apologize for it, I was always in my office and I made sure that all tax returns were done correctly, not everyone could be like me. I left HRB this tax season because they like to hire people that have no clue for positions hire up, how can someone with a higher title then me tell me about something they have no clue about, I had to give my inputs on how to fix their computers, because my computers were always updated every morning before my tax pros came in, I had the coffee going and the office clean, did they appreciate this NO. I love preparing taxes and I will have my business with GOD's Help!!! I would love to help you guys, I am one of the few that is very knowledgeable in taxes and the laws, and very honest with people.

I am loved by my employees and my clients and they lost these clients after 7 years working with them. I have learned how to do taxes in Brooklyn, NY so not only do I do Federal Tax Returns but also any State Tax Return by computer or by hand which is not easy.

I had a simple problem filing my taxes using

H&R block software and the H&R staff could not

provide an answer. The incompetence was quite

apparent after talking with two different agents

an getting the same lack of knowledge.

My husband and I filed through HR Block this week, even paid for their "peace of mind guarantee" . The very next day, we were contacted by the region office of HR Block letting us know that there was an issue with our return and they will call our local office to inform them...(?????....) ok.

We were then contacted by our local office and was informed that apparently there was a previous filing under my husbands social and so the IRS kicked our return back as rejected. She then told me we were going to have to file a paper copy and mail it in, but since we weren't filing it electronically anymore there was no way to remove their fees and so we needed to pay the fees up front BEFORE they released our paperwork to us to file them ourselves..... Are you kidding me???!!!!!! When I refused to pay anything up front the lady said she would contact IRS to see what the deal was.

She called the next day to let us know that it was just an accidental duplicate entry from HR Block and that the first entry was accepted and processed and we would see our money in the expected time frame......... then a few hours later she calls us and tells us that the first filing was still showing as rejected and she need us to come into the office. At the office we were on the phone with IRS and it was explained by the IRS that we would have to file our taxes by mail afterall and that it would take 10-12 weeks at this point to verify the validity of our filing since this would be the 3rd filing under my husbands social!!!! WOW!!!!What an incovenience!

There were no apologies from HR Block at all,and even went as far as stating this was not an error on HR Block's part and that we were still responsible to pay the fees for their services. We adamantly disagreed , especially when she let us know that she found through her system that it was an accidental duplicate entry in their office that caused this whole mess in the first place.( She must have forgot she told us that) HR Block again attempted to collect fees from us up front and also attempted to have us sign an agreement to be responsible for paying the electronic filing fee once we received our return. We were so pissed off we could not see straight!!! After telling us that your office screws up and we have to do this ourselves you still intend for us to pay you for servcies you could not provide???!!!!!

Finally my husband demanded our W2's and paperwork back from her so we can leave and she hands them to him and telss him that it would be wise to act as if we never came in there at all......we took that as do not publicly slander HR Block for this.... We were prepared to pay for convenience and peace of mind, neither of which we received! CRazy!

I will never return to HR Block! Turns out filing your taxes by yourself is very easy and unless you need the convenience of getting your money in 7-14 days, HR Block is a rip off and a waste.

Truly disappointed on being mislead by the tax rep. First, I was told that there was no options to receive an advance refund.

However ,this was incorrect. I have spoken with 8 peopel who receive an advance pay fro mJackson Hewitt. This includes people with 428 credit score. Second, now we are being told that the IRS had a crash becasue of the overload in the system.

Now, the delay has been pushed out from 3 days to an additional week. All Hr block can say is that they are sorry. How is it we pay for this high cost to prepare our taxes, and then the information they provide is, and can be incorrect.

I think on a professional level, they need to be honest upofront about the alternative of Irs delaying the process. In addition, the rates are higher than the rates it cost me to receive my refund in advance last year.

PDobson67 : Keep trying until you reach a person who will stand by your side and help you... go to hrblock.com and locate an office near you, double check it is year round, and schedule and appointment, or walk in.

Don't be discouraged, there is human error, but I assure you, once you step foot in an office, someone has to take care of you. Stop calling the 1800 #...

go to an office and ask for the district manager info... and bring up the case.

H&R Block is a tax prep company, not a loan institution... be glad they offer the advance in the first place.

It's as if you lend someone money, and just because you did it once, they keep coming and coming back for more, and when you say no, they get upset.... you are not a bank, understand the concept. You will be back when you or someone else screws up your taxes though.

They are called the best for a reason. Check your credit report before you step through a door thinking they won't look at it.

Guest

I was too denied and it was a shock to me because I too have been receiving this advance for many years now and never thought that they did a credit check. I not sure what is going on but it started last year and it has been going down hill ever since.

I will not be using H&R Block again. The benefits for working class people has changed with this company and I am sure they will lose a lot of people within the tax season.

My girlfriend and I are hispanic, we went to the Winchester Apple Blossom Mall to file our taxes at H&R Block. It was 4pm and they did not close until 6pm.

The lady at the front desk, told us we were too late and they weren't taking any more people, because all their reps were busy. First of all there were no other customers waiting, it does not take 2 hrs to do a return for the customer each rep had. As we were exiting, someone else comes in and she tells them to take a sit and someone would be with them shortly. I was like WTF, my girlfriend pulled me out of there.

Not only do they not know what they are doing, they're also racist. :(
