HR Block - H&R Block Emerald Advance up to $1000
I recieved a letter with a plastic card included with information about the H&R Block Emerald Advance. Which, yes on approved credit, based on what your antisapated tax return will be, will loan you up to $1000.
I brought all the information and papers needed to my H&R Block agent. I was told to antisapate a return of $8,470.00. How ever my loan was denied within 2 seconds of my agent pressing the send button.
My agent said (I quote) "I'm sorry your loan wasn't approved. It's sad 80% of the loans aren't. I've only had one approved that I have done. People get their hopes up and well...you should get your w-2's soon."
80%!!!!
Why even bother to waste the paper and plastic cards with loans % like that!!!
Monetary Loss: $1000.

How to get a reset code to apply for emerald advance again
Just because the loan wasnโt approved doesnโt mean you lost $1,000%. It just means they werenโt fronting the money.
Which over time; advances became more approved with the publicโs use of it. They donโt charge to apply, the donโt charge anything to get one, and thereโs no interest charge. I will agree the REAL negative about it all, is they canโt tell you if itโll be approved or not until you file with them.
Only then do you find out. So it traps you into paying them for filing services if youโre hoping for the advance, Even if you end up getting declined.
I also went into H&R Block for the Refund Advance loan. I always do my own taxes at home using one of the online services, but this year I have dire need of getting my refund as quickly as possible rather than waiting to the end of February just because I am getting the EIC as a portion of my refund.
It doesn't surprise me that they said 80% get denied: I was denied based on my "oldest trade line is unsatisfactory." My "oldest trade line" is my student loans, which have never been late or unpaid, and are over 10 years old. I am still not understanding why a company who is loaning against a tax refund - which they get paid back directly out of with no possibility of intervention by the taxpayer - even needs to check the customer's credit.
Here is the thing I was told there were no credit check or anything to do with it an yes I got told it was because my credit so what the *** is going on with this bull say ome thing an find out something different its bull be *** honest with ur customers reguardless
I've gotten the emerald advance the last 3 years and the 3000 advance last year. My credit is absolutely wrecked (something I'm working on)..
I didn't think I'd get the emearald advance this year but I was approved.
My theory on this is that I've done my taxes with them for 9 years and everytime I've been approved for the advance I always make a payment on it and then have the rest covered with my taxes. Because of my credit I honestly don't think credit plays VERY much into it....?
Agreed
The *** I was referring to was Matt M. Itโs crazy to be so awful in a comment to someone that is just asking a valid question.
What do people do, they roam random cites to find questions that they feel โaboveโ (I donโt know morally or something else I canโt name) and scrape the bottom of their brains for their best their downgrading remarks? I would really like to know the reason behind that immature behavior because I have never been a TROLL but it must make those people feel good or they wouldnโt waste their so very valuable time typing their garbage responses.
I mean good credit means you must be royalty or just better than most people right?! Matt?
I also know I messed up royally when writing my last comment. Apparently i need to proof read more.
Sorry
If you โpeopleโ havenโt noticed you are all talking about two different loans! Also, the guy that was being such a *** didnโt even notice that he wasnโt even talking about the same loan!
There is an advance on your taxes and then is a credit line before that u apply for before or before you get ur w2s. There two different qualifications for them so not the same {{Redacted}}.
The loans are tax advance (need w2s) and emerald advance (do not need w2s). I believe from reading about the emerald advance ur credit is very important to qualify but it doesnโt seem to me that the to qualify for the tax advance loan u reallly donโt need to have a good credit score just a good record with getting your income taxes back on time (no audits) and without unforeseen deductions.
I have great credit and was denied. I have been on the phone with Axos Bank and Experian all evening.
The reasons for denial were simply untrue. Too many inquiries-my experion report shows 4 in 2 years.
And accounts not in good standing- again report SHOWS three accounts open, never late. NO ONE, NO ONE, can explain my denial.
i been looking all over for that Axos Bank number. Do you happen to still have it
Itโs your fault for having bad credit. I get the loan every year because I pay my bills on time. It helps!
Job
We got the loan every year each year our credit is better yet we got denied this year so your comment irrelevent
Yes I totally agree it's a bunch of *** misleading people luring a man take your money all right
Wow arenโt we a self righteous little *** Iโm sure you have a whole list of things that you use to justify your narcissistic belief that youโre a supreme being, ever thought that people fall on hard times and struggle to get back on their feet? I mean maybe Iโm completely wrong but Iโm almost positive that no one wakes up and wants nothing more than to fall behind on bills and get hit with the consequences of falling behind.
But maybe Iโm wrong and people may really enjoy life kicking them in the nuts while theyโre down and we all should worship the ground that someone who thinks so highly of themselves, such as yourself, walks on. Iโm sure mommy and daddy raised you to think you were a special snowflake and made you believe all those participation trophies were actually because you were the best when it actually was the opposite, but hey, they could never shatter that blind, pathetic narcissistic mentality that you latch on to because deep down you know youโre average at best.
Just because youโve been lucky enough to have fallen behind because of things beyond your control or youโre just a little *** who mommy and daddy swooped in to save you from a bad situation does not make you better than anyone else. Itโs pathetically weak, but in contrast, the person you took a cheap shot at to make yourself feel better because youโve got a tiny *** is working to resolve the issue and rebuild after hardship is commendable, and once they fully recover should feel proud of.

There was NO monetary loss at all. You applied for a loan with a potential benefit of 1000 at the most but were not approved.
There was zero cost associated with applying for this product and no mark was made against your credit report for doing so.
You did not lose any money you just didnt gain any. Why make it into something it isn't?
I AGREE, LOL!
